Social media has recently been buzzing with clips and discussions centered around actors Girija Oak and Gulshan Devaiah. While the duo is fondly remembered for their crackling chemistry as Suresh and Sejal in the 2011 cult classic Shor in the City, a fresh wave of appreciation has taken over the internet, sparked not just by nostalgia but by a revealing new interview.
The conversation stems from their upcoming web series, “Therapy Sherapy,” where the two share screen space once again. However, it is Girija Oak’s candid revelation about filming intimate scenes with Gulshan that has won hearts online.
The Viral Interview: “He Asked 17 Times if I Was Okay”
In a recent interaction with a digital platform, Girija Oak opened up about the complexities of shooting intimate sequences. She highlighted a specific scene in Therapy Sherapy where their characters, a married couple, engage in intimacy that is meant to feel “mechanical” and devoid of passion—a task she described as technically challenging.
The video clip of her interview has gone viral, where she praises Gulshan Devaiah’s immense respect and professionalism.
“No matter how much you plan, there are very few people with whom you feel zero discomfort. Gulshan is one of them,” Oak stated. She detailed how Gulshan brought multiple pillows from his vanity van to ensure she was physically comfortable during the shoot and checked on her consent and comfort constantly.
“He must have asked me at least 16 or 17 times, ‘Are you okay?’ If I wanted to remove a pillow that was causing disturbance, he agreed immediately. That level of care and respect really touched me,” she added.
‘Shor in the City’ Nostalgia Resurfaces
This new viral wave has sent netizens back to 2011. Clips of their innocent, awkward romance from Shor in the City are being reshared on Instagram Reels and X (formerly Twitter). Fans are contrasting the shy, sweet chemistry of Suresh and Sejal with the mature, complex dynamic anticipated in their new show.
The song “Saibo,” featuring the duo, has also seen a spike in streams, with fans celebrating their on-screen pairing as one of the most underrated in Bollywood.
Gulshan Devaiah Calls Out Imposters
Adding to the current news cycle, Gulshan Devaiah recently took to social media to defend his co-star. He flagged a fake account impersonating Girija Oak on X, warning fans not to fall for the “imposter cashing in on her crush phase.” This protective gesture has further endeared the pair to their fanbase.
With Therapy Sherapy set to tackle mental health within a family setting, the genuine off-screen respect between its leads has set a positive tone for the show’s release, proving that safety and consent are paramount in modern filmmaking.
